Burbank bills itself as the Media Capital of the World. Warner Bros. has made films on its Burbank lot since the late 1920s, and for decades The Tonight Show was taped at the NBC studios nearby, where Johnny Carson joked about beautiful downtown Burbank. Lockheed built aircraft beside the local airport from 1928 until the early 1990s.
